David Bradford leads Red Pencil Design

David B. Bradford, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB is a licensed architect who formed Red Pencil Design to pursue the practice of designing highly crafted, site-sensitive residential homes and additions. He creates innovative solutions, creating new possibilities for a better everyday life.

Raised in the Chicago suburb of Glenview, Illinois, David was recruited to play men’s varsity soccer at The Ohio State University. He graduated with honors from the University’s School of Architecture. David, and his wife Teresa, settled in Columbus, Ohio for seven years after graduation where he became a highly sought-after architectural designer. He worked on many commercial and institutional projects in Columbus and its surrounding suburbs.

David, Teresa, and their growing family headed south when David accepted the position of lead designer at one of the country’s pre-eminent A/E firms with a branch office in Raleigh, North Carolina.

From there, David was recruited by one of the region’s largest architectural design firms to head up their commercial and institutional design studios. He left there as a senior principal and owner to co-found 310 Architecture + Interiors and now, Red Pencil Design.

At home, David enjoys DIY and renovation projects and spending time with his wife, grown children, and granddaughters. His son, Philip, is an engineer by day and a weekend DIY Influencer, also known as Philip or Flop. His daughter, Liz Bradford is a scientific illustrator and fine artist.

David holds affiliations with the American Institute of Architects (AIA), showcasing his commitment to professional architectural standards and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Board which facilitates licensure across the US.
